Grönholm in WRC support event on Saturday
Former double World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm will take part on Saturday in Killeri Rallysprint, which is a support event of Neste Oil Rally Finland. He will face opposition from the cream of Finnish rallysprint specialists, all of whom want to beat the great champion.
Even in retirement Grönholm has not shied away from competitive driving. In the Killeri Rallysprint his mount will be a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV.
-I´ve done a little bit of testing, because the car was completely unfamiliar to me, tells Marcus.
-It´s got a lot of power, but it needs some more torque, he says of the 580 bhp Mitsubishi.
-His speed was impressive for a test, reveals Kari Tasanko, the car´s owner, who will also take a turn behind the wheel in the Rallysprint. -We´ll try to improve the torque before Killeri by changing the turbocharger, he promises.
Grönholm is not unduly worried about the prospect of facing the challenge of Finland´s fastest sprint specialist.
-It´s good fun to have a go, but we´ll have to see what happens, he says. -I know the Killeri track and the car is better than I expected, but the others all know their equipment better. I can´t really expect to beat them, he confesses.
Killeri Rallysprint in Jyväskylä´s Killeri trotting track on 1.8. from 17 o´clock.
