FLASH INFO
SERVICE F
Malcolm Wilson, Team Manager, BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team
"For the moment the result is a very positive one for the team. Mikko seems very strong in his mind and he is driving a perfect rally. The same goes for Jari-Matt - he has an objective to follow and for the moment everything is good."
3: Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen
"I knew that I would have to go flat out from the first stage this morning and I was happy to see that the road would be damp as that would help me being first on the road. My pace went according to plan and it seems that we can control the rally now."
1: Sebastien Loeb/Daniel Elena
"On stage 15 there was a big rut in the road which was impossible to avoid. We hit it and the tyre came off the rim, losing all air pressure. Now the gap is a little wider and for the moment we fight but drive to finish in second place."
2: Dani Sordo/Marc Marti
"I lost third place because Jari-Matti was faster, simple as that. At the end of SS16 the car was sliding too much and I thought I might have a puncture but we check the problem at Service. Otherwise we are OK and will see how it goes later on."
4: Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila
"In the middle of the night I felt sick and it affected me for the first loop. Then I had some food at Service and recovered some energy. In the second pass I was faster but not crazy fast. It was nice to get a fastest stage time though!"
14: Mads Ostberg/Jonas Andersson
"Since the start of the rally we have struggled with a suspension problem. With the help of the Tommi Makinen team we have an idea of how to solve it. But for that we need time, so we can only get that ready for tomorrow morning."
10: Matti Rantanen/Mikko Lukka
"We have no reason to push any more. Fifth position is OK. I cannot even think of fighting with the four official boys in front!"
15: Khalid Al Qassimi/Michael Orr
"It was less fun the second time around because we encountered too many ruts in the road to really be confident enough to go fast."
8: Conrad Rautenbach/Daniel Barrit
"We didn´t find a solution to our misfiring engine, and we will finish like that with that problem remaining. So there is no fight and we are losing the battle of motivation."
9: Federico Villagra/Jorge Perez Companc
"We had to correct our pacenotes several times because with all the other guys cutting the corners the angle of the curves is different from one place to another."
70: Kimi Raikkonen/Kaj Lindstrom
Kaj Lindstrom: "When the engine problem started in the first loop and got worse in the second we ended up driving one gear lower than we should be to stay fast. It is frustrating that this happens now that Kimi really feels that at ease in the car.
68: Patrik Flodin/Maria Andersson
"It´s OK, now it is just a matter of reaching the end safely."
38: Martin Prokop/Jan Tomanek
"We still go fast because Pinomaki is not so far away. It helps me to concentrate - taking no risk at all would mean to go slower and that is when mistakes happen when you are not concentrating so much."
59: Kalle Pinomaki/Matti Kaskinen
"For me the gap seems too much now after losing our brakes on the previous loop. Our R3 Clio seems to lose a little bit to the Super1600 car when the roads are rutted."
71: Jouni Arolainen/Risto Pietilainen
"We struggle all day with big brake problems and life is not so easy."
32: Michal Kosciuszko/Maciek Szczepaniak
"We are 10s behind Burkart so we will push a little more in the afternoon but just for fun, because it seems the fight for the Junior title is over."
12: Sebastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia
"My goal is to fight against Mads Ostberg. There is just a 2s difference between us. For the first time it is good to compete against this Nordic driver."
5: Matthew Wilson/Scott Martin
"We had a problem in the first stage of the loop when the ignition cut after a jump. Otherwise the car is OK."
16: Jari Ketomaa/Mika Stenberg
"I have had a very good second loop. I am very happy for the first time in a WRC car to be in the points. I didn´t think I would be so well placed so I want to hold onto this position for the rest of the rally. I am a little bit upset about the previous loop because I clipped some trees and lost some time."
67: Anton Alen/Timo Alanne
"There have been a lot of problems in that last loop. Firstly the sump guard broke in the first stage. It was like a shovel on the next stage scooping up rocks. After that the rear roll bar broke and finally I had a puncture!"
